May 17, 2025|News
We’re incredibly proud to announce that Becky Willis of Tyneside Home Improvements has been named a finalist for Degree Apprentice of the Year at the North East Apprenticeship Awards 2025.
Becky took a courageous leap from a qualified teaching career into a dynamic HR role within our growing SME. Enrolling in an MA in Human Resource Management (Senior People Professional) at Teesside University, Becky has brought not only a strategic mindset but also a passion for organisational transformation.
From the outset, Becky has led from the front—implementing HR policies, introducing compliance frameworks, and taking full ownership of HR and Health & Safety operations. Under her guidance, we achieved CHAS Accreditation, implemented new HR, H&S, and CRM systems, and improved operational standards across the board.
She’s a mentor, a Mental Health First Aider, and a champion for inclusive, ethical, and agile workplace culture. Her innovative use of accessible training formats and unwavering support for other apprentices show her exceptional commitment to equity and learning.
In a construction sector where women remain underrepresented, Becky is a trailblazer. She is actively shaping a more inclusive industry—proving that leadership, innovation, and empathy are powerful tools for change.
Her nomination is a celebration of her achievements, her resilience, and the transformative impact of apprenticeships. We’re honoured to have Becky on our team and fully support her journey to becoming one of the region’s most influential young professionals.
