Giving Back to Our Community: Tyneside Home Improvements and Shine North East
August 25, 2026|News
At Tyneside Home Improvements, being a responsible local business means more than simply improving homes.
It also means supporting our people, contributing to the communities in which we live and work, and looking for opportunities to make a positive difference across the North East.
That’s why we’re proud to be an accredited member of Shine North East, the North East Combined Authority’s employer accreditation programme recognising organisations committed to responsible employment and creating better workplaces and stronger communities.

Putting Community Spirit into Action
Recently, two members of Team THI, Becky Willis and Danielle Amin, swapped the office for litter pickers and headed to Newcastle Quayside for a community volunteering day organised through Shine North East and Newcastle NE1.
Alongside volunteers from other North East employers, Becky and Danielle helped tackle litter around one of our region’s most recognisable locations.
It was an opportunity to give something back to a city and region that has supported Tyneside Home Improvements throughout our years in business, while working alongside other local organisations that share the same commitment to social responsibility.
The volunteering day formed part of Newcastle NE1’s wider work to help keep Newcastle city centre clean, welcoming, and looking its best.

Proud to Shine
Our involvement is also part of a wider commitment to responsible employment at Tyneside Home Improvements.
We’re proud to have achieved WE SHINE Intermediate Accreditation, recognising the work we’re doing around employee health and wellbeing, community involvement, environmental impact, and social responsibility.
For us, accreditation isn’t simply something to display on a certificate.
It’s about putting those principles into practice, whether that’s investing in apprenticeships and developing our people, supporting charitable causes, or giving employees the opportunity to get involved in activities that benefit our local communities.

Small Actions Make a Difference
A few hours spent litter picking might seem like a relatively small contribution, but when businesses and their employees come together, those individual contributions can have a much greater impact.
It was also a great opportunity for Becky and Danielle to meet people from other North East organisations, share ideas and play their part in helping to keep the Quayside looking its best.
We’re proud of them both for getting involved and representing Tyneside Home Improvements.
More Than Home Improvements
Tyneside Home Improvements has been part of the North East community since 2008.
Our customers live here. Our employees live here. Our apprentices build their careers here. Our suppliers and business partners operate here.
So, as we continue to grow, we believe it’s important that we continue looking for ways to give something back too.
A big thank you to Shine North East and Newcastle NE1 for organising the day β and to Becky and Danielle for rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in.
