In the midst of our 2024 G-Awards nomination, we are proud to put the spotlight on our Commercial Director, Chris Green.
Prior to being recognised as a finalist for the ‘Unsung Hero’ category at the G24 Awards, Chris joined THI as a Financial Controller in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Playing a pivotal role in the transformation and success of the company with his exceptional dedication, strategic vision and operational excellence.
Commitment to Staff Development and Training
A standout initiative led by Chris is the introduction of the apprenticeship program. His dedication to nurturing talent and investing in the future of the industry has been recognised, winning the 2024 North East Apprenticeship Awards in the “SME Employer of the Year” category. This accolade underscores the company’s commitment to staff development and its significant contribution to the industry’s talent pipeline.
Chris has already successfully nurtured three apprentices through their qualifications in marketing, joinery, and business administration. Additionally, he has employed a higher degree apprentice whom he is mentoring through an MA in Human Resources. Chris also provided an opportunity to an intern from Sunderland University, who secured a full-time role as a marketing officer under his mentorship. These efforts highlight Chris’s dedication to developing people to be the best they can be.
Prioritising Health and Safety
Recognizing the critical importance of health and safety, Chris spearheaded the company’s CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) certification. This achievement highlights Chris’s commitment to ensuring that health and safety are top priorities within the business. By leading this initiative, Chris has reinforced the company’s dedication to maintaining high safety standards and protecting both employees and customers.
Enhancing Company Profile and Industry Credibility
Chris has also raised the profile of Tyneside Home Improvements and the broader glass and glazing industry by showcasing the company’s remarkable work. His efforts have brought national and local press attention, with the business being featured in numerous articles. Additionally, Tyneside Home Improvements was shortlisted as a finalist in the regional ‘South Tyneside Business Awards 2024’. This recognition not only elevates the company’s profile but also enhances the credibility of the industry.
